Long John Silver's is an American fast-food chain selling fried fish and seafood. It takes its name from Long John Silver in Robert Louis Stevenson's novel Treasure Island. A menu that smells of the sea got a sailor's name.

In the book Treasure Island · Robert Louis Stevenson

In the novel, Silver is the ship's cook, who gets about on one leg with a crutch. He spins friendly yarns for young Jim Hawkins, and Jim cannot easily tell what lies behind the smile. Silver introduces the bird on his shoulder like this: I calls my parrot Cap'n Flint, after the famous buccaneer.
